1. About WordRay

WordRay is a focused reading application that allows users to create an account, save documents, track reading progress, manage bookmarks and synchronize reading settings.

References to “WordRay”, “we”, “us” or “our” in this policy refer to the WordRay application and its developer.

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you create a WordRay account, we collect and process:

• Your email address
• A unique account identifier
• Authentication and account status information
• Account creation and update timestamps

Passwords are handled through our authentication provider. WordRay does not store your password in readable form.

Documents and reading content

When you save content to your WordRay library, we may process and store:

• Document titles
• Text that you type, paste, import or share with WordRay
• Detected or manually selected document language
• Document creation and modification timestamps

Imported files may be converted into readable text on your device. The extracted text may then be saved to your WordRay library when you choose to save the document.

Reading activity and preferences

To provide reading continuity and synchronization, we may store:

• Your position within a document
• Your selected reading speed
• Reading display and playback settings
• Language and text-to-speech preferences
• Bookmarks, excerpts and bookmark notes
• Relevant creation and update timestamps

Technical information

Our infrastructure and service providers may automatically process limited technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as:

• IP address
• Request timestamps
• Application and device information included in network requests
• Error, authentication and security logs

We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.

3. How we use information

We use collected information to:

• Create and manage WordRay accounts
• Authenticate users and protect account access
• Save and synchronize documents and reading data
• Restore reading progress, settings and bookmarks
• Send account confirmation, password recovery and security emails
• Respond to support and account deletion requests

• Diagnose technical problems and improve reliability

5. Service providers

WordRay relies on third-party service providers that process information on our behalf:

• Supabase — authentication, database and cloud infrastructure
• Resend — delivery of account confirmation, password recovery and security emails
• Cloudflare — domain, DNS and related network services
• Google Play — application distribution and store services on Android
• Google ML Kit — on-device text recognition for supported document import functionality

These providers may process information only as needed to perform their services, subject to their own legal obligations and privacy terms.

6. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your documents or reading activity for targeted advertising.

We may disclose information:

• To service providers acting on our behalf
• When required by applicable law or a valid legal request
• To protect users, WordRay or the public from fraud or harm
• As part of a business reorganization, provided that appropriate protections continue to apply

7. Data storage and international processing

WordRay and its service providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for international transfers of personal data.

8. Data retention

We retain account information and synchronized WordRay content for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the service.

When your account is deleted, we delete or anonymize associated account data unless limited retention is necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution or compliance with a legal obligation.

Temporary system logs and backups may remain for a limited period before being automatically overwritten or securely removed.

9. Account and data deletion

You can request deletion of your WordRay account and its associated data:

• Through the account controls available in the WordRay app, or
• Through our account deletion page

Deleting your account permanently removes access to the account and initiates deletion of associated documents, reading progress, settings and bookmarks, subject to the limited retention described in this policy.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Request access to your personal information
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Request deletion of your information
• Restrict or object to certain processing
• Request a portable copy of applicable information
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
• Submit a complaint to your local data protection authority

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse or alteration. However, no internet or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for maintaining control of the email account connected to WordRay.

12. Children’s privacy

WordRay is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum digital-consent age required in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children who cannot legally consent to its processing.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when WordRay features, service providers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will identify the latest version.

If a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we will provide additional notice where reasonably required.
